The Dr. LEE Jong-wook Fellowship program for fellows from Africa was provided by The Graduate School of Public Health of Seoul National University and the WHO Collaborating Centre of Health System and Financing (Director: Prof. Soonman Kwon), funded by the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH). The fellowship program focused on strengthening health policy and management competences for MoH officers. For this year, six fellows from Ghana, Mozambique and Tanzania participated in the program from June 29 to September 12, 2015. The fellowship program included lectures from leading public health experts, field trips to key healthcare facilities, interactions among the fellows and Korean cultural experience. The lectures covered topics such as health policy, health financing, heatlhcare organization, biostatistics, epidemiology, global health, aging & health, economic evaluation , etc. The fellows visited Boramae Hospital, Jung-gu Health Center, Naitional Health Insurance Service (NHIS), and Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) as part of the field trips. These site visit opportunities allowed the fellows to get firsthand experience of Korean healthcare system. At the end of the program each fellow selected a health policy issue from one's home country, wrote a report on the issue and presented their works.
